Bereavement tea to support Dying Matters Awareness Week

Doves Funeral Directors has been be supporting Dying Matters Awareness Week, which highlights the importance of talking more openly about dying, death, bereavement, and making plans for the end of life.

Funeral Arrangers Lorraine Wormley and Rachel O’Donoghue organised a bereavement tea held at Crockenhill Village Hall for people to chat about their experiences.

Attended by 35 people, the day provided the opportunity to speak to a bereavement counsellor and a local celebrant, as well chat to local charity, Second Chance Animal Rescue.

Lorraine said: “I am so pleased with how the day went. It was great to see everyone making new friends, swapping stories and phone numbers. We supplied tea, yummy cakes and biscuits as well as a small gift to take home.

“As a funeral home it’s important for people to remember that we also offer support to families and friends. It was a great opportunity be able to answer so many people’s questions about bereavement, planning a funeral and even what decisions to expect after a loved one dies.”
